United Way of the Columbia-Willamette is Racing for Reading to ensure the youngest readers in our community have access to free books!



United Way's partnership with Dolly Parton's Imagination Library ensures that every child from birth to age five in Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington counties has access to free books delivered directly to their homes every month.



Fewer than 40% of Oregon third graders are reading at benchmark levels, and one of the most effective ways to increase literacy rates is for children to be introduced to books at an early age. By supporting the program, you help empower children to achieve reading readiness by kindergarten, a crucial milestone for lifelong success.
