United Way of the Columbia-Willamette is Racing for Reading to ensure the youngest readers in our community have access to free books!



United Way's partnership with Dolly Parton's Imagination Library ensures that every child from birth to age five in Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington counties has access to free books delivered directly to their homes every month.



Fewer than 40% of Oregon third graders are reading at benchmark levels, and one of the most effective ways to increase literacy rates is for children to be introduced to books at an early age. By supporting the program, you help empower children to achieve reading readiness by kindergarten, a crucial milestone for lifelong success.

SHOC Sunset Run & Walk is a 5K, 10K, and two-person relay that kicks off right at golden hour, inviting runners and walkers to soak in the views as the sun dips below the horizon. Cruise the course in the glow of summer, then stick around for a finish-line celebration featuring music, local vendors, and refreshing beverages.



This race will also feature a free 1K walk for kids and parents that would like to join!
